Auger Dredge - Remote Operated

Autonomous Floating Auger Dredge. Powered by your choice of 4 thru 12-Inch EDDY Pumps

Auger Suction Dredges are used in many dredging applications where there is a liner such as poly, clay, concrete, and other type of plastic liners.  The Auger Suction Dredge can be equipped with wheels to provide liner-safe dredging while still being able to break up consolidated material.

Unmanned Autonomous Dredge
Auger dredges are also used where there is consolidated material at depths about 30 feet. The Auger Suction Dredge is positioned on the surface with cable and pully positioning, verses spuds that may have issues because of depth restrictions. The Auger Suction Dredge can be pulled by cables front and back and cuts the width of the auger.  This Auger Dredge cut at a depth from 1-ft up to 30-ft depending on the dredging project.

All EDDY dredges use our industrial EDDY Pumps. This Auger Dredge system is powered by your choice of a 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12-Inch EDDY Pump, to match your project production requirements.

EDDY Pump has been bringing new innovative solutions to the dredging industry since 1984. Building on their popular autonomous submersible dredge technology, EDDY Pump engineers have developed yet another groundbreaking product, the Auger Suction Dredge.

Popular 10-Inch Model. HD10000
At the heart of the Auger 10K is the 10-inch EDDY Pump. This pump can move slurry up to 4000 GPM and over 400 ft of head. All EDDY Pumps are uniquely engineered to outperform their competitors, particularly in situations with slurry or high solids material.

Unmanned Autonomous Dredge

We are one of the few companies who manufactures both our pumps and dredging equipment to ensure optimal support.

The core of this design is the patented EDDY Pump technology. The design redefines the pumping industry by being the only pump that utilizes the principles of a tornado to create a synchronized eddy current. This pump is not a centrifugal, positive displacement or vortex pump, but instead the most highly efficient high solids and high specific gravity pump on the market. This translates to the ability to pump higher percent solids of material and capture the heavy specific gravity gold.

Unlike alternative pumps, the EDDY Pump is optimized for:

– High Production
– High Concentration Solids
– High Viscosity and Specific Gravity Fluids
– High Abrasive and Corrosive Materials
– Low Ownership Cost (See PDF)

Primary Auger Dredge Applications

Mine Tailings Ponds often have a poly-liner to prevent contaminated material from seeping into the groundwater. Over time, these tailings ponds fill up from repeated deposits and need to be dredged. However, the dredging process must not penetrate the protective liner. The Eddy Pump Auger Suction Dredge is ideal for this application because it is able to pump higher concentrations of solids with less water without liner damage. This means there is less money spent on treating the water and having to pump more water into the tailings ponds in order to make the material pumpable for conventional dredges and centrifugal pumps. The Eddy Pump also does not have close-tolerances like centrifugal pumps so the highly corrosive low pH tailings do not eat at the impellers and have to constantly be replaced. The Eddy Pump saves millions of dollars on downtime and spare parts over the life cycle of the pump. The Eddy Pump Liner-Safe Auger Suction Dredge is also remote-operated and partially autonomous. This means that mines do not have to put people out on the Auger Suction Dredge which can be hazardous. The remote-operation aspect of the auger dredge allows for minimally manned dredging operations, saving additional expenses for the client.
Paper/Pulp Basins and Ponds: In the paper & pulp industry, caustic and corrosive slurries are often needed to be moved from location to location, eventually reaching a lined containment pond. Due to the corrosive nature of this material, traditional pumps tend to be quickly eaten away which leads to failed parts and costly downtime. Plus, the containment ponds need to be lined with concrete, polyurethane, or clay to prevent the caustic slurry from escaping into the surroundings.
Irrigation Canals and Basins: Concrete line canals and basins are frequently used in agriculture and irrigation water transport. Over time, these canals can fill with dirt, muck, sludge, or other types of grime that needs to be dredged away to maintain the integrity of the canals. The Eddy Pump mounted on the boom of an excavator is the perfect solution as it is made for dredging viscous material with high solids content along with minimal water.
Municipal Sewage processing facilities collect large amounts of sewage and sludge that accumulate in liner pits, which then need to be pumped. These pits are often lined with poly, concrete or clay protective liners to prevent the waste from contaminating the environment. The Eddy Pump creates a turbulent flow that helps keep the heavy materials in suspension and moving down the pipeline. All of this is achieved with less downtime than any other pump and dredge. With an Eddy Pump Auger Suction Dredge, viscous and corrosive sludge can be pumped at concentrations of up to 60% solids by weight. No other pump can come close to this concentration.
Energy ash ponds such as coal ash and fly ash collect large amounts of ash in slurry form. This ash slurry is deposited into large poly-lined ponds and concrete basins where they are then dredged periodically. Coal ash and fly ash slurry is a thick, viscous, and abrasive material that can quickly wear down components of centrifugal pumps. With the Eddy Pump’s proven design and mechanics, abrasive and viscous materials are no problem. The Eddy Pump grit pump can pass an object without any issue that is 1-inch smaller than the intake of the pump. This means a 10-inch Eddy Pump can pass solids of up to 9 inches in diameter.
Agriculture Manure Ponds: Poly-lined ponds are widely used for containing livestock manure. The lined ponds ensure that the waste is not released back into the environment. As a result, when these ponds need to be cleaned or dredged, they must employ a machine that will not damage the liner and create a massive situation. By using an Eddy Pump with a liner-safe attachment, these ponds can be safely dredged without the fear of breaking or tearing the liner. Additionally, the Eddy Pump can be mounted in numerous different ways to ensure the most efficient setup for your pump or dredge application.
