What Is a Dredge Pump?

A dredge pump is a heavy-duty slurry pump that moves sediment, sand, sludge, and other abrasive solids suspended in water through a pipeline. Unlike standard water pumps, dredge pumps are engineered for high-solids slurry — handling material concentrations of 40–70% solids by volume without the rapid wear that destroys conventional centrifugal pump impellers.
