Lagoon Dredging

Lagoons accumulate sediment over time requiring regular maintenance dredging to maintain function. Let’s explore our lagoon dredging equipment options.

What is Lagoon Dredging?

Lagoons are classified as a shallow body of water separated from the ocean or larger bodies of water. Lagoons are commonly used for municipal wastewater treatment and other industries such as dairy processing, fracking, wineries and fruit/vegetable processing. Target materials in lagoons vary in consistency and abrasiveness. Mature fine tailings found in mine waste are notorious for their highly abrasive qualities found within quarry lagoons.

Over time sediment and sludge accumulate at the bottom of the lagoon causing an unsightly appearance and odor. Industrial lagoons also known as settling tanks are prone to reaching or exceeding original design capacity and require maintenance lagoon dredging to maintain optimal efficiency.

Why Dredge Your Lagoon?

The main benefits of dredging your lagoon are:

  • Restore and maintain design capacity
  • Ensure optimal wastewater treatment efficiency
  • Improve the look and appearance of lagoon
  • Eliminate odor, sludge and muck

How To Dredge Your Lagoon

A lagoon dredge system works by lowering a pump with a cutter head onto the lagoon floor and agitating the target material at the bottom. The agitated material is then pumped through a discharge slurry hose to the desired end location.

The dredge sled unit shown above is operated by an easy to use automated winch system, requiring only one operator to dredge the lagoon. Another option is to use an excavator with a pump attachment to pump difficult solids.

EDDY Pump partnered with UAT Pacific and is now able to offer a complete dredging solution for effective slurry, sludge, and solids removal, the Dredge Sled. With the latest technology, the Dredge Sled is a cost-effective solution for your pond, lagoon, canal, tailings ponds, and settling tank cleaning

The Dredge Sled is a simple, efficient and easy to use alternative to more complicated heavy-duty dredging equipment. The best solution for shallow pond or lagoon dredging.

Excavator Dredge Pump Attachment.  This state of the art dredging system is unique to the market and improves the process for high solids pumping while using the hydraulic power of your existing excavator.  The EDDY Pump Excavator Attachment easily pins into your existing bucket linkage and is powered off of the excavators’ auxiliary hydraulics.

Pump and equipment both are built and designed by EDDY Pump. This ensures the perfect fit along with support from the same company. We do not use 3rd party pumps like our competition does.
