Self-Cleaning Cutterhead

Attach a Self-Cleaning Mud Guard to our dredging equipment cutterheads to drastically reduce dense, sticky mud and sludge from clogging the cutterhead which, if left unchecked, can lead to equipment damage.

Self-Cleaning Cutterhead is a highly engineered attachment that can attach to a cutterhead basket, which allows a pump or dredge operator to scrape sticky, compacted mud off of the head basket attachment as it rotates in real-time. When dredging highly compacted areas, there is a much higher probability of cutterhead blockage, which can lead to equipment failure. The self-cleaning ensures the pump is not starved for material and keeping production rates as high as possible. The self-cleaning mud guard is primarily meant to supplement material agitation systems on dredges and other high solids pumping applications.

The self-cleaning mud attachment is ideal for pumping highly viscous mud or sludge. As the basket or cutterhead rotates, a self-cleaning comb device clears the mud or other debris, allowing for less blockage of the pump’s intake. This unit works well with a jetting ring for mud and material agitation for optimal production rates.

The pump, self-cleaning mud guard, and suction dredge work in conjunction to make this the optimal dredging system for handling compacted mud, sludge, muck or other highly viscous materials combined with a high percentage of solids. When combined with our liner-safe wheels, this unit allows for precision dredging without the risk of damaging sensitive clay or poly liners. This pumping system can easily pump thick mud up thousands of feet through discharge pipelines without the need for additional booster pumps.

All dredges and attachments are powered by our industrial EDDY Pump, allowing for a customized dredging system powered by a 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12-Inch EDDY Pump to match your project production requirements.

EDDY Pump has been bringing new innovative solutions to the aged dredging industry since 1984. Building on our popular slurry agitation dredge pump technology, EDDY Pump engineers have developed yet another product to boost dredging efficiency, the Self-Cleaning Mud Guard.

All EDDY Pump dredges use our proven USA Built industrial pumps.

The core of this design is the patented EDDY Pump technology. The design redefines the pumping industry by being the only pump that utilizes the principles of a tornado to create a synchronized eddy current. This pump is not a centrifugal, positive displacement or vortex pump, but instead the most highly efficient high solids and high specific gravity pump on the market. This translates to the ability to pump higher percent solids of material and effectively pump highly viscous and thixotropic materials.

We are one of the few companies who manufactures both our pumps and dredging equipment to ensure optimal support.

Powered by HD Series EDDY Pumps
At the heart of all of our dredging equipment is the Heavy Duty EDDY Pump. This pump can move slurry up to a rate of 4000 GPM at over 400 ft of head. All EDDY Pumps are uniquely engineered to outperform their competitors. Unlike other pumps, the EDDY Pump is optimized for:

  • High Production Rates
  • High Concentrations of Solids
  • High Viscosity and Specific Gravity Fluids
  • Highly Abrasive and Corrosive Materials
  • Low Total Ownership Cost
