Virtual Tour Day – Meet an Engineer

Over 700 students and teachers got a live virtual tour of EDDY Pump manufacturing facility this week. Cajon Valley School District Superintendent Ed Hildago and his crew were on site directing this rich immersive experience. Over the week 25,000 student views took place exploring everything from animal trainers at Sea World, Taylor Guitars manufacturing, a commercial fish processing plant and of course EDDY Pump manufacturing.

From digital to a physical product. During the EDDY Pump visit they saw how we build robots, program controllers, see 3D printers working and associate a real experience with what manufacturing is in the USA.

Programming and 3D printing are being taught in the classrooms and we showed that exact process of a design going from concept to the 3D printer, testing and then machined into pump components. Our 30-minute session ended with Q&A from students in grades K through 12. They asked questions about welding, machining, how we worked before 3D printers and what a day in the life of an engineer is like.

About World Of Work

EDDY Pump is helping to teach students about real-world jobs and to prepare them for their own career choices with hands-on learning experiences. Earlier in the year, we did a semester-long program working directly with classes. This week was an extension of the prior WOW participation.

The World of Work program is an exciting educational initiative launched by the Cajon Valley School District of Southern California. The goal of the program is to bring local businesses and schools together to help teach students about real-world jobs and to prepare them for their own career choices with hands-on leahttps://www.cajonvalley.net/rning experiences. The program intends to identify and foster strengths, interests, and values in each of the participating students to help them find their place in the world and make their own impact.
